Marsh Marigold

Caltha palustris in the buttercup (Ranunculaceae) family.

I got quite wet on this hike. Mostly my boots got soaked, but taking pictures like this also requires wet knees (and sometimes elbows). There are days I wish my camera had live view.

  1. Ah, marsh marigold—so pretty to look at, so wet to walk through… Also watch for cloudberry growing in these same wet areas—the berries (which look like small, lumpy, orange raspberries) taste delicious, like baked apples (another small reward for getting soaked in the swamp…)

I like the blue background in this image, did you turn it that colour? (I usually get really green backgrounds with marsh marigold)

    1. I’ve never tried cloudberries – I’ll watch for them next time I’m out.

Yeah, I tinted the background blue to set off the yellow of the flower better.
